Mississippi State returns to the hardwood tonight off the heels of their first conference loss of the season.
The Bulldogs are hoping to bounce back tonight traveling to Fayetteville to take on Arkansas for the second time in two weeks at 8 p.m.
MSU (15-4, 3-1) never trailed in their previous meeting but had to hang on for dear life at the end winning 82-80 at Humphrey Coliseum. The Bulldogs have won the last four games in the series but Arkansas still holds the overall advantage 26-22.
State comes into tonight's game shooting 44.9-percent from the floor and averaging 74.4 points per game. The Bulldogs are coming off their worst 3-point performance of the year but still lead the league knocking down 9.26 treys with 39-percent consistency. They continue to top the SEC in most defensive categories including scoring defense (61.3), field goal percentage allowed (36.6), blocked shots (8.42), defensive rebounds (30.68) and defensive rebounding percentage (71.8).
Senior center Jarvis Varnado is the only player in the conference averaging a double-double per game with 13.8 points and 11 rebounds. He is second in the country this season with 100 blocks on the year and moved into second place all-time on the NCAA list. Varnado is 41 swats shy of Wojciech Mydra's record of 535.
