Laurinburg, N.C., Scotland County kicker Jay Wooten received an offer last Thursday from North Carolina. Today, he accepted that tender and became a Tar Heel.

"I did some thinking and was playing devil's advocate with myself," Wooten said. "I wanted to make sure I was going to the right place. And every time I thought about it, everything kept coming back to North Carolina. It's the place I want to be."

Wooten called North Carolina head coach John Bunting before school this morning.

"I told him I wanted to be a Tar Heel," Wooten said.
