2007 Men's Hoop Scrimmage Report

Before the Wazzu men's basketball intrasquad scrimmage, head coach Tony Bennett addressed a Bohler Gym crowd full of Cougar fans looking for a glimpse at the much-anticipated 2007-08 season.

"One thing established was a legitimate home court advantage," Bennett told the crowd. "We want to have a home-court advantage. It means a lot."

The second-year coach then went on to introduce his players by their class, much to the delight of the crowd of an estimated 1,600 people.


"Just for a scrimmage to see that type of crowd is exciting for us," WSU senior Kyle Weaver said afterward. "To have a showing like this just for a scrimmage … I can't imagine what it'll be like come season time."

The scrimmage consisted of three rounds of 11 minutes of basketball.

The first round saw Taylor Rochestie, Derrick Low, Weaver, Robbie Cowgill and Aron Baynes of the Gray team pitted against Stephen Sauls, Abe Lodwick, Thomas Abercrombie, Daven Harmeling and Caleb Forrest of the Crimson team.
