BIO NOTES
2009 (Senior): arris earned extensive playing time last season, including four starts, and heads into fall camp as the starter at free safety. In the Red-White Spring Game, he had two tackles, both solos, two passes broken up and a 17-yard interception return for the winning Red team. He had five tackles, all solos, and a pass broken up in the March 28 scrimmage, and eight tackles and a PBU in the April 4 scrimmage. In four scrimmages and the spring game combined, he had 21 tackles, including 19 solo stops, and six PBUs with an interception.
2008 (Junior): He played in all 12 games with starts against Western Illinois, Florida, Auburn and Mississippi State. He ended the season listed as the starter ahead of Tramain Thomas. He led the secondary and tied for third on the team with 56 tackles, including 46 solo stops, which ranked third on the team. He was fourth with five tackles for 17 yards in losses. His one interception came in the 25-22 win over No. 20 Auburn. – In the opener against Western Illinois, and in his first start, he had a team-high 10 tackles with a one-yard TFL. He had two solo stops the following week against Louisiana-Monroe. He did not record any tackles against Alabama or Texas. In a start the following game against Florida, he had six tackles. He made two tackles to go with the interception in the next game against Auburn. He followed with three tackles against Kentucky and one against Ole Miss. In the 30-23 victory over No. 19 Tulsa, he had a season and game-high 13 tackles with 12 solo stops and two TFLs for four yards. He also broke up one pass. He had three tackles against South Carolina. He made nine stops against Mississippi State, all solos. In the season-ending victory over LSU, he had seven tackles with two TFLs for 12 yards.
2007 (Sophomore): He did not letter, but he earned snaps against Troy, North Texas, Chattanooga and Tennessee. He had three tackles for the season, one solo and two assists. He had an assisted tackle against Troy, and a solo and an assisted stop against North Texas.
2006 (Sophomore): He worked as a reserve in the secondary in practice, but didn’t see game action.
2005 (Redshirt): He spent his redshirt season working with the UA scout team defense.
Personal: Born Dec. 9, 1986, he is the son of Cliff and Cindi Harris. He is the son of former Dallas Cowboys’ great Cliff Harris and the nephew of former Razorback defensive back Tommy Harris. His father played football at Ouachita Baptist in Arkadelphia, Ark., before going on to appear in five Super Bowls and six Pro Bowls as a member of the Cowboys. He is enrolled in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences and is majoring in communication. He was named to the Lon Farrell Academic Honor Roll for Spring 2007.
High School: He led his squad to an 8-2 record in his senior season under Coach Bobby Reyes. He racked up 67 tackles including 36 solo stops and 31 assists. He also earned six pass deflections and one interception. He participated in the Coca-Cola All-Star Game in Dallas, Texas. He suffered a broken elbow midway through his junior campaign, but still managed to record 40 tackles, three interceptions and six pass break ups. He helped lead his team to an 8-4 record and a district co-championship. He boasted a 33-inch vertical jump in high school. He competed in track and field during his prep career. He has posted a time of 15.3 in the 110-meter hurdles and a clip of 41.0 in the 300-meter hurdles. He also competed in the pole vault as a sophomore. He was a high school teammate of fellow UA offensive guard Colin Tucker at Pearce HS. In addition to Arkansas, Harris was recruited by Iowa State, SMU and Georgetown.
