I didn't join in the conversation either. Just read the thread. I'm merely trying to offer a little perspective to people who think we're about to hire Chris Peterson, Jon Gruden, or somebody of that stature. I think they are setting themselves up for a great disappointment.

There's a huge difference between what a bunch of group-thinking 18-25 year old e-geniuses think about our program and what the national media/coaches who are considering us think about our program. The Mainboard has devolved into something quite far from people actually giving reasonable thought. Tennessee is supposedly a top 10 program....but they hired Derek Dooley. Give it some time. Don't jump off a bridge.

Tmb is the last place to go to gauge that. Turn on the herd or Dan Patrick show for a much better representation.
Of all people, David Pollack (sp) gave the program some legit credit as have many talking heads.
Smh at anyone who legitimately would compare Arkansas to Mississippi state.
Hell yes I want a coach who wants double digit wins his first year and every year there after it. Why is it wrong to want a big time head coach for Arkansas?? I absolutely hate this "little ol Arkansas" mentality. Let's grab our junk and go after some quality coaches. We deserve it.

The main board is just trying to get a rise out of whoever they can. People talk about us a lot so you know we are releavant.
However, We are delusional if we think Coaches would love this Job. Bobby loved this job. We struck gold with that. unfortunately he screwed it up. Now, we will get somebody that is an up and comer(Paul, Garrick, some small school), or that has already peaked in their career and we are giving them a second chance(Tubs, Leach)and hoping they still got it.

Arkansas is a solid program that was on the rise, and it definitely has the resouces to become an elite program. Even though they have a proud tradition with some very big wins, a few NC's are needed for national recognition and elite status. This is a great opportunity for someone to take the program to the next level, and as a Sooner, I hope Garrick McGee gets his shot. Wilkenson, Switzer, and Stoops were hired with no HC experience, and between them won 7 NC's. A little "Sooner Magic" could be the ticket.
