KU, KSU playing for more than pride
For the past two decades, the Sunflower Showdown has been a one-sided affair. Kansas (19-1; 5-0) has defeated Kansas State (17-3; 4-2) 38 of the last 40 meetings dating back to the 1994 season. Playing in Manhattan, the Jayhawks hold a 20-1 record inside Bramlage Coliseum and, since 1984, is an amazing 25-1 in games played in Manhattan. No. 2 ranked Kansas will look to improve its road success against Kansas State on Saturday. However, as Bill Self made clear on Thursday, doing so will be no easy task.
This season, No. 11 ranked Kansas State, led by Frank Martin, has been one of the most impressive, and surprising teams, in college basketball. The Wildcats have quality wins over Dayton (14-6; 3-3), Washington State (14-6; 4-4), Xavier (13-6; 5-1), UNLV (17-4; 5-2), Alabama (13-7; 3-3), Texas A&M (14-6; 3-3), previously No. 1 ranked Texas (18-2; 4-1) and Baylor (15-4; 2-3)
