McCarney knows USF better than most
In 2007, Dan McCarney was a member of the South Florida coach staff. Today, he's the Gators' defensive line coach. On Wednesday, McCarney talked about the challenge the Bulls will provide Florida, and particularly the defense, on Saturday.
Here's what he said ...
On USF QB B.J. Daniels and potential problems for the Gators defense:
"All kinds of problems - obviously one of the most talented quarterbacks in college football - that's no exaggeration. I was there when we recruited BJ Daniels - Mike Canales (former USF offensive coordinator) recruited him. We thought at the time we got an unbelievable steal, that he could go anywhere in the country and have a chance to be successful. It sure played out the way when you watch him on tape - tremendous arm, can throw from the pocket, can throw from the pocket, can get outside, throw on the run - one of the most elusive running backs as a quarterback in the country. He reminds me a lot of Seneca Wallace who played for me at Iowa State."
