Notes: Football practices off and rolling

Even before he took the field last spring, B.J. Finney, through dogged determination and hard work, had established himself as an up-and-comer to watch along the Kansas State offensive line. The sophomore center, who started all 13 games last season, understands that each player has to decide their own time to take that chance and shine.

"My name was thrown around during (Pinstripe) Bowl preparation because I wanted it now," Finney said. "If you don't have your switch turned on in the spring it's definitely time to get it turned on and moving. To get your name thrown around in the mix during the spring is a key time."
