Smith introduced as head coach

After nearly a two-week search, Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long met the media on Tuesday to officially announce John L. Smith has the Razorbacks' head football coach for the 2012 season.

Smith is largely considered an ideal choice considering he spent three years in Fayetteville (Ark.) under previous head coach Bobby Petrino, who was fired on April 10 for his involvement in an inappropriate relationship with newly-hired staff member Jessica Dorrell. Smith has 18 years of head coaching experience and saw Arkansas' chances to compete for a national championship this fall as reason enough to leave his alma mater Weber State after just four-and-a-half months on the job.
