Hoops Preview: Versatility

In the days leading up to Friday's start of men's basketball practice, GoldandBlack.com is taking a comprehensive look at the 2007-08 Boilermakers. Today, we look at versatility.

Expect to see any number of different lineups from the 2007-08 Boilermaker men's basketball team.

While Purdue may not look like the most experienced, biggest and strongest or best shooting team out there - at least on paper - one thing it will be is plenty flexible.

A review of the roster shows most of its players are capable of playing multiple positions. In fact, of those players on scholarship, it's conceivable that only senior Tarrance Crump is locked into playing just one position, that being point guard.

In the backcourt, of course, sophomores Keaton Grant and Chris Kramer rotated between playing point guard and playing on the wing.

Kramer, though, probably won't see as many minutes this season at the point, as the coaching staff may want to put as little pressure on his surgically worn legs as possible. Defending the other team's 1 full-court can be pretty taxing, obviously.
