Bruin commit to open things up

Four-star wide receiver Paul Richardson (6-2, 180, 4.5) from Gardena (Calif.) Serra was a longtime commit to UCLA. For some time, the talented Richardson has been mulling it over whether to open up his recruitment or not. To make the decision even harder, Richardson is a Bruin legacy recruit. Richardson's dad, Paul Richardson Sr., was a standout receiver for the Bruins before playing in the NFL.

Richardson had dinner with his father Thursday (May 28th) Evening talk about opening up his recruitment.

"We were having dinner at Friday's and we talked about it," Richardson said. "It was a good decision for me, as far as, me checking out other schools."

"I'm still going to stay in contact with UCLA, but I am looking forward to checking out schools and being comfortable when I take my trips," Richardson said. "My decision to open things up was because I felt that I committed too early."

"I just felt that I wanted to explore all of my options and I didn't want to feel like I was somewhat attached while doing so," Richardson said. "I wanted to give all the schools that I liked enough attention. So I felt if I wasn't committed to UCLA, I would feel better about taking my trips and visiting other schools."
