JUCO lineman picks Miss. St.

Mississippi State added their third commitment of the weekend when Itawamba Community College lineman Jeff Howie joined the fold.

The 6-foot-4, 330-pounder was hoping for an MSU offer on his official visit and when it came Howie did not hesitate in taking it.

"Everything went fine," Howie said. "I got that offer that I wanted and I committed. It feel good to be a Bulldog and know that I am going to play in the SEC."

Howie was hosted by former Itawamba teammate Pernell McPhee, someone Howie went up against in practice during his freshman year on the offensive line in Fulton.

"Pernell McPhee was my host so it was somebody I was familiar with," Howie said. "I had to go against him some last year in practice when I was playing offensive line. He was good but that was my first time playing offensive line."

There were several aspects of the trip that helped Howie make his decision.
