Johnson would commit all over again

Three-star wide receiver Malcolm Johnson made his mind up in late July where he wanted to go to school.

The Tuscaloosa, Ala., native committed to Mississippi State and has not wavered from his pledge. After taking his official visit to the Bulldogs campus this past weekend, he would do it all over again.

"It was a great time and a great adventure," Johnson said. "I learned a lot of stuff. If I didn't have my mind made up I definitely would have after this weekend. I already had my mind made up so this was like icing on the cake."

Johnson made the trip across the state line following Northridge's 53-52 loss to crosstown rival Tuscaloosa County to begin his visit Friday night.

"I got in late Friday night because of my basketball game but Brandon Wilson from Tuscaloosa came and picked me and I just chilled with him," Johnson said. "That Saturday after we woke up we went on a tour around the campus. That was my first time actually getting to go around the campus so that was a nice experience. I went through the academic rooms, the facilities and the weight room and I was amazed by them."

With Johnson's late arrival, he missed his chance to go to Dan Mullen's home for dinner that evening. But he did get to sample some of the food.
