Lomomba enjoys Iowa visit
Last fall, Junior Lomomba got his first look at the Iowa campus for a football game. On Sunday the highly rated 2012 hoops prospect made his way down from Madison to get an up close look at the Hawkeye Basketball program.
"Coach Jordan came to my game last week and invited us down for the game this weekend. He wanted us to see what it was like for a basketball game at Iowa." Lomomba said. "We were excited to be here and it was a lot of fun. I like the way the fans supported the team today and was happy to see Iowa get the win."
The 6-foot-4 wing player says he has been building a good relationship with Iowa assistant LaVall Jordan and that seems to be helping with his interest in the Iowa program.
"Coach Jordan has been coming to my games since last summer, especially a lot of my AAU games. He and I have been building a real good relationship and he is a good guy," Lomomba said.
Iowa isn't the only visit that Lomomba has made in the past few months. He has also been to Minnesota, Xavier, Marquette, Cincinnati, and Ohio for unofficial visits. Lomomba says that it is still very early in his recruitment and he doesn't have a favorite school.
His focus is still on basketball and improving his skills. This season as a sophomore, Lomomba is averaging 12 points and 7 rebounds a game at Madision Memorial High School in Wisconsin. After his season ends, his focus will turn to AAU basketball and as a native of Canada, an opportunity to represent his home country in international competition.
"Hopefully I will get picked for the Canadian National team and if I do, I will go to Germany and then play in a couple of AAU Tournaments like Peach Jam and Boo Williams. It will be a busy spring and summer," he said. "It's always good to go up against some of the best players in the nation and the world to see where you are at."
