Vegas Adidas Spring Classic - Part I

BruinBlitz.com spent Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Adidas Spring Classic in Las Vegas and watched several UCLA recruits play for those three days. For the record, California Supreme, coached by Gary Franklin Sr., beat the Pump and Run team in the championship game Sunday afternoon.

BruinBlitz.com looks first at the 2011 players who will be high school seniors next year:

1. Kevin Johnson (6-10) Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft:

Johnson is a very strong center who will play his senior year at Taft. He was ineligible last season due to transfer problems but will be a force for Taft of Woodland Hills in November. Johnson has been known since his freshman year. He was a 6-7 well built player when BruinBlitz.com saw him play in the Redondo Beach Tournament against Renardo Sidney a few years ago. Sidney out played him then, but Johnson showed he could play against the best even as a 14 year old.

The talented big man has grown three inches since then and he's in great shape. He played on the winning California Supreme team and was very effective. He is not a great athlete, but is so strong that it isn't a problem for him.
