Pollard starting to make plans

The unincorporated community of Porterville, Mississippi has an estimated population of 812.

It just so happens to be that one of the residents of that small community in rural Kemper County is one of the best high school basketball players in the country. Five-star small forward Devonta Pollard has offers spanning the nation from some of the most elite programs in college basketball.

"I'm not even going to lie, I really didn't think it would be recruited at this level coming from a small town in Kemper County," Pollard said. "I knew I had been out there on the circuit and had the talent to do things but I didn't think it was going to be at this level and this strong."

Pollard has reeled in offers from the likes of Mississippi State, Kentucky, Texas, Alabama, Georgetown and Marquette to name a few.

Most of that group has ventured down to Porterville over the past few weeks for an in-home visit with Pollard and his mother Jessie, a former professional women's basketball player in her own right.

"It's been going good," Pollard said. "It's still the same schools that I've gave before that are looking at me. I've had a couple of teams that have come to my house. Mississippi State, Alabama, Texas, Marquette, Georgetown and Missouri have all came."

Pollard stated that he has not set up any of his official visit dates yet but would for sure take an official visit to nearby MSU and "most likely" Kentucky.
