Mitchell not picked until 10th round by Twins

The news was good for LSU football coach Les Miles on Tuesday.

Jared Mitchell, the quarterback from New Iberia's Westgate High School who signed in February with the Tigers, was not drafted until the tenth round of Tuesday's Major League Baseball draft.

The Minnesota Twins picked Mitchell with the 306th pick of the draft.

Mitchell, who played outfield for Westgate, was projected to be a high draft choice meaning that he could possibly bypass playing football in college for professional baseball.

But, Mitchell will probably now attend LSU and play both football and baseball. Mitchell is listed as a wide receiver by the Tigers.
