Attention is picking up for Christian
When talking about the best high school teams in Georgia, Lowndes is a school that is definitely talked about. They won the AAAAA State Championship in 2007 and they have a good shot to get back there this year. One of the leaders on that team is junior Ed Christian.
"I am starting to get a lot of mail and letters," said Christian. "Florida International has offered me a scholarship and Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Georgia Tech, and Clemson are some schools that are in contact with me. I get a lot of it and it is starting to pick up."
Lowndes has a couple of seniors that are committed to two of the big three in Florida. Safety Gerald Demps is committed to FSU and athlete Greg Reid is committed to Florida. Those two will help draw coaches to the South Georgia school back in the spring.
"I saw a lot of schools and a lot of coaches came through our school back then. I can't remember all of them, but a lot of coaches left business cards for me. Florida, Florida State, UAB, UCF, Georgia Tech and a few more started recruiting me then when they came through the school."
Early on, one school stands out to the 6-foot-5, 280 pound offensive lineman.
"Georgia is the school I grew up watching," admitted the junior OL. "I have been watching them for a long time and I hope to go to a game there this year. I know Michael Gilliard from Valdosta and he is committed to Georgia and our quarterback last year Christian Glisson is going to Georgia to play baseball."
