On Friday, the U.S. Army All-America Bowl took a backseat to the National Junior Combine, an event which gave several USC targets and potential targets the opportunity to show their skills on a national setting.
The star of the combine was Lache Seastrunk (front page), the explosive tailback from Temple (Texas). Seastrunk began the day clocking a 4.50 electronic 40-yard dash on a slow track, followed by an afternoon session spent toying with the linebackers in receiving drills. Seastrunk eventually began to make up routes to challenge himself, followed by a series of back flips and handstands to show off his unreal athleticism. One of the most personable and effervescent players on-and-off the field, Seastrunk made headlines by wearing USC socks to the combine. Seastrunk downplayed the recruiting significance of the move.
