Sooners Go After Another Texas DT

Through the years perhaps no position has been better to Oklahoma's recruiting than defensive tackle. Through the recruitment of Jackie Shipp one player after another has surprisingly picked the Sooners over a perceived long-time favorite.

Whether they seemed destined as Sooners or not early in their recruiting big things were always expected from the likes of Tommie Harris, Demarcus Granger, Gerald McCoy, and Sooner fans anxiously await the arrival of Jamarkus McFarland.

Unlike Dallas A. Maceo Smith's Jatashun Beachum, each member of the group were among the nation's elite defensive tackles from the earliest rankings. The 6-foot-2, 275-pound defensive prospect stars as a quarterback for the Falcons but projects at any number of positions at the college game.

While he already held offers from Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Utah, and Wake Forest he got one earlier this week that he admits to being pretty excited about.

"Oklahoma has been showing me interest for a while," Beachum said. "They called my coach and my coach put them in contact with me. When I talked to them they were saying that I've got good size, and great feet and that they want to offer and want me to come visit their campus."

Is that a trip that Beachum will take?
