White waiting for Tech to pull the trigger

Tallahassee quarterback Ryan White has a few schools checking him out, but he is waiting for one school to step up and offer him a scholarship.

White has had a strong spring in practice and East Carolina and Arkansas are hot on his trail.

"Spring is going really well. The team is looking really good and the backfield is going to be very strong once again," he said. "Right now I've got ECU and Arkansas as my only offers right now. I've got a high interest in Georgia Tech."

The Yellow Jackets also have an inside track on White because he used to live in Marietta and enjoyed the area.

"I lived in Marietta a couple of years ago and went to Marietta High School," he said. "Georgia Tech called my old school asking about me. I found out today that they wanted to talk to me about some things. I transferred down the Lincoln because the talent level is much better. They breed these guys to play football down here."

Paul Johnson's offense also suits White's style of play.

"I feel like I could run the option at Georgia Tech pretty well," he added. "You have to count for everybody with misdirection and you have to be a magician. I feel like I'm the best at running that type of offense."

White's coach and father are the main two people influencing his decision making so far and he hopes to get a few visits under his belt this summer.

"My head coach at Lincoln gives it to me straight up and he sits me down and we're going to figure out where we are going to go on some visits this summer," he said. "My dad is right there with me the whole way with recruiting. I plan on going to Georgia, East Carolina, Arkansas, Florida, Central Florida, Florida International, and Ole Miss as of right now."

Unlike many other dual-threat quarterbacks, White would be willing to change positions in college to get playing time.

"I want to play quarterback in college and if that doesn't happen I'll probably play wide receiver," he said.

"The most important thing in my recruitment is if the school can develop me into a better player, how far it is from home, the level of competition and where they play," White said. "I'm going to cut it down pretty soon to which school is closest to home, has a favorable depth chart, and a great atmosphere. After I've taken visits is when I will know which place is best for me."
