Will Brause play QB?

Bucyrus (OH) Wynford duel-threat quarterback Tyler Brause had a season to be proud of in 2008. As a junior Brause earned first team all-conference honors as a quarterback and kicker. As a punter he was also honored as a second team all-conference performer and he earned second team all-Northwest District honors on offense.

With a season like that colleges started sniffing around to learn more about the Ohio product and he now holds five scholarship offers. One of his most recent offers came from the Syracuse Orange.

"I was really excited to get the offer, Syracuse is a great school. I was just excited."

Brause, 6-foot-4, 220 pounds knows a little bit about the Orange, but is in the process of scheduling a trip to New York. Even though he does know some items about the Orange Brause is still in the learning process.

"Just from what I have heard, it is a great campus. We are going to have to get up there and visit it pretty soon. Other than that I do not know much about it, it is just a learning process right now."

When the Orange offered Brause they told him what they like about his game, but they were not to clear on a definite position for him.

"They talked about my athleticism and my versatility to play other positions," Brause stated. "They are recruiting me as an athlete not as a quarterback," Brause said. "I just play strong safety on defense and I also punt and do some kicking."

Playing quarterback is the top position Brause wants to play in college, but he also wants to be able to help his team anyway he can.

"Quarterback is my preference it is my favorite position," Brause added. "I would be open to playing another position. I would do whatever it would take to help the team win a championship."

Even though the Orange are not looking at him as a quarterback to start Brause is extremely interested in the program right now."

"I would say my interest in Syracuse is pretty high right now. Just because of the tradition Syracuse has and it is a great academic institution."

Other than Syracuse four other schools have offered and more offers could be on the way.

"Right now I have offers from Maryland, Kent State. Western Michigan, and Stanford. I have been in contact with a lot of other schools."

Who are some of those other schools?

"I can't be certain, but I think Wake Forest has potential to offer, maybe Michigan, Bowling Green, and some other make schools."

With school starting to end for the year it will give Brause some time to visit schools and hopefully make a decision soon.

"I would like to make a decision at the beginning of August before my high school season starts."
