Arkansas lands a kicker
SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. Currently, Eduardo Camara is at the Chris Sailer Top 12 Kicking Camp competing with the top kicking prospects in the nation. When finished, Camara will head back to Texas, followed by a trip to Brazil and then back home for his senior season at Cedar Hill (Texas) High School. However, Camara now has a new final destination as he has made his college decision. On Tuesday night, Camara committed to Arkansas.
The talented placekicker picked up an offer from the Razorbacks in early June and before mid-July, Camara was ready to end the process for several reasons.
"The coaching staff blew me out of my mind," Camara said. "They're great. They're awesome. I went there and had a great day and they showed me everything I wanted to see. Arkansas is great. It's really nice out there. It has nice weather, a nice stadium. The Fans are crazy. I really like the atmosphere."
Camara had several other schools showing him heavy interest but rather than jocky for more offers, he went with his gut.
"Baylor, UTEP and UNT all pretty much told me to come to camp," he said. "The coaches just want to see me one more time and they'd offer. I didn't go to any of them because I'm not trying to stack offers. If I get the one that I'm going to then that's all that matters to me."
As a high school junior, Camara made 12 field goals for the Texas powerhouse program of Cedar Hill. Six of those field goals were from outside 40 yards. That success is what is giving him the opportunity to start as a true freshman.
"I'll be doing everything except punt," he said. "I will start my freshman year. For sure I'll get kickoffs and then we'll see how it goes for field goals."
