Hughes looking to decide in August

Chase Hughes

"I was thinking about making a decision before school starts but I think I'm going to have to wait now. There's just so much going on, I'll probably not make a decision until by my first game, which is on August 20th."

"I'd like to visit Georgia Tech before they start practice, so I think I'll have to do that this week or so. I'd also like to get back to Ole Miss and Southern Miss to see one of their practices this month."

"I really don't have a list right now or top schools. I could flip it around every other day if I did, so I really don't have any set leaders or a list or anything right now."

"First thing would be a Godly staff. I'm a Christian and have been a Christian my whole life, and go to church as much as possible, so that's important to me. Also, I want a school with a good strength and conditioning program, a good strength coach. I'm a weight rat, and that's something I'd like to do, is become a college strength and conditioning coach. So I'd like to be at a place where people want to train and keep getting stronger all the time like I do. I also want to go somewhere where I'll win obviously. No one wants to lose, so I'd like to go somewhere that I have a chance to win at."

"We are a small school, we just barely got Class 5A status. Most of us have to play both ways where as the other schools in our region don't. So we've always got to be the strongest and most conditioned program. I mean, we have about two or possibly three guys, including myself, who have squatted 700 pounds and then we have a bunch of guys who are benching 300. So, really, ever since the end of last year, we've been training a lot.

"I think we can win our region personally, but you never know from week-to-week. Still, we have pretty much everyone coming back. We did lose a linebacker, but he really wasn't that big time of a starter and we lost our quarterback but the guy that's replacing him is an athlete and he's played a lot at other positions for us. He should do real well. I think we're going to have a real good year."

Ole Miss

"I'm pumped about the Ole Miss offer because it's a good school and program and I love Coach Nutt and Coach Markeusion. I'm pretty happy about that offer."

"I still keep in constant contact, I probably talk to Coach Caldwell once a week. I'm still in touch with Auburn as well. Pretty much everyone is still involved and showing the same amount of attention.

"Most of the schools are looking at me as a center. Most really like my strength, because I'm pretty strong and they like my feet, my bend and mobility."
