Ledbetter set for official visit with Hogs

Arkansas will host its first official visitor of the year later this week when big-time JUCO defensive lineman Jeremiah Ledbetter starts his 48-hour visit in Fayetteville.

Ledbetter, a heavily-recruited defensive end who plans to graduate from Hutchinson (Kan.) C.C. in December, will arrive on Arkansas' campus sometime during the day Wednesday and stay through Friday. It will be the 6-4, 270-pound lineman's second trip to Fayetteville this year, as he and his highly-touted teammate Marquavius Lewis both made an unofficial trip on April 9.

"I'll be up there Wednesday, I'm excited about this visit," Ledbetter said. "I liked it when I took an unofficial visit there earlier this year. It's a good program, one of the top programs. They're good people and they've got one of the top academic sides, too."

Ledbetter, who has other offers from Florida, Miami, Georgia, Oklahoma State and more, said his official visit will be about continuing to build a relationship with his lead recruiters, defensive coordinator Robb Smith and defensive line coach Rory Segrest.

"I'll spend some time with Coach Segrest and Coach Robb Smith," he said. "I'm just looking for a good vibe about the place. I've already seen the campus, so I'm just looking for a good opportunity and see what they have to offer me."

The big defensive end is back in his old stomping grounds of the Orlando (Fla.) area until the end of the month. He visited Florida unofficially earlier this spring and was on Miami's campus on Monday.

Ledbetter said he knows for sure that Florida will get one of his official visits during the season, but he hasn't set up anything beyond that.

Ledbetter graduated from Gainesville (Ga.) in 2012 and went on to sign with Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. He redshirted in his first year and then blew up with 64 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, seven sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and three pass break-ups as a redshirt freshman in 2013.

The junior college lineman was committed to Oklahoma State for several months last year but reopened his recruitment when he reclassified from the Class of 2014 to the Class of 2015. He will have two years to play two at his next stop.
