Two Arkansas players have been named All-SEC, the Associated Press announced Monday.
Left guard Hjalte Froholdt and linebacker De’Jon Harris were tabbed as second-team selections. The Razorbacks did not have any players on the first team.
In his third season on the offensive line after being recruited as a four-star defensive lineman, Froholdt started every game this year, bouncing between center and left guard and extending his streak of consecutive starts to 37 games.
Playing on a unit that allowed 32 sacks, he did not allow a single one, according to Pro Football Focus. In fact, he allowed only two quarterback hits and two hurries for four total pressures. His 99.5 pass-blocking efficiency was tied for first nationally among guards who played at least 400 pass-blocking snaps.
Harris led the SEC in tackles during the regular season with 118, including nine for loss and two sacks. He also had five pass breakups, two quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
It is the second straight year Harris has been named to the AP's All-SEC second team. He was also named to the SEC's All-Freshman team by the coaches in 2016. With 270 career tackles, he would likely crack the UA’s all-time top-10 list if he chooses to return for his senior season.
Not surprisingly, Alabama led the way with eight total All-SEC selections, including five on the first team.
Crimson Tide quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was the offensive player of the year, while Kentucky linebacker Josh Allen was the defensive player of the year. Both of them were unanimous first-team selections, along with Ole Miss wide receiver A.J. Brown.
Vanderbilt running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn, an Illinois transfer, was the newcomer of the year and Kentucky’s Mark Stoops was the coach of the year.
