Free Preview: Palmoore Talks About Decision

Offensive line prospect Jeremy Palmoore of Hamilton High in Memphis, Tenn., had a lot of thinking to do Monday night.
Palmoore was scheduled to announce a verbal commitment at his school on Tuesday. Problem was, he hadn’t completely decided who that school would be.

Arkansas was in the lead, but he wanted to sleep on it to be certain. When he woke, Palmoore’s choice couldn’t have been any clearer.
“I had this dream last night,” Palmoore said, “I envisioned myself playing in a game in Razorback Stadium. I was wearing a red uniform with a white hog on my helmet. I knew right when I woke up that I was going to Arkansas.”
The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Palmoore chose the Razorbacks over South Carolina, Memphis, and Mississippi State among others. Palmoore sees himself following in the footsteps of Razorback All-American offensive lineman Shawn Andrews.
“Getting the chance to learn under a guy like Big Shawn is a big positive,” Palmoore explained. “To have a guy like that there to take me under his wing – that is incredible. I hope things turn out for me just like they have for him.”
That’s a bold statement, but one Hamilton head coach Jeff Sawyer thinks Palmoore is capable of backing up.
“Jeremy is real young,” Sawyer explained. “He’s not the most experienced football player, but he’s a big-bodied kid with a ton of potential. He really has a bright future. I think he’s a kid that could come in and see playing time by the end of his freshman year.
“It might take him a little while to get adjusted to the speed of the college game,” Sawyer added, “but once he does, he should make a big impact.”
Palmoore, who plans to major in Communication or Sports Management, knows the opportunity to play for Arkansas is a special one.
“I can’t believe I’m going to get the chance to play for a great young coach like Houston Nutt,” Palmoore said, “and to do it at a school like Arkansas in a conference like the SEC, that’s just special. That’s not something a lot of 18 year olds can say.”
Despite making his decision, the recruiting process isn’t over for Palmoore. Now, he must turn his attention toward getting his teammate Ivora Hall to dream of wearing Razorback red, too.
Hall, a 6-foot-2, 285-pound defensive tackle, is expected to decide between Arkansas, South Carolina and Memphis on Signing Day.
“I really don’t know what Ivora’s going to do,” Palmoore said. “You just never know with him, but I want him to be a Razorback. I’m going to work him hard.”
