Haynesville trio enjoys trip to Fayetteville

Three prospects from Haynesville (La.) were in attendance to see Arkansas' season-opening win over Louisiana Tech Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville.

The group included two 2018 targets in defensive end Jalan Harris and safety Jamarceon Jackson, and 2019 athlete Lance Grider, a young cousin of former Razorback receiver J.J. Meadors.

Jackson had a family connection to the game, too, as he's cousins with Arkansas fullback Kendrick Jackson and Louisiana Tech safety James Jackson.

"I was kind of in the middle, I was really pulling for both of them," said Jamarceon Jackson, who has early offers from Mississippi State, Lafayette and others. "They both played good, it was just a great time.

"Everything went good. The fans were very interested in me. They were asking a lot of questions about my recruitment. It was a great environment to be in the stadium and listening to the fans. I had a great time with Coach (Michael) Smith. I'll most definitely come back up there."

Harris, who has offers from Lafayette, UL-Monroe and UTSA, said he was blown away by Arkansas' fan support.

"It was great, they showed a lot of love and I met a lot of people," Harris said. "I talked to Coach Smith. He was telling us how glad he was that we made it up there and said he and the defensive line coach (Rory Segrest) are going to be down to see one of our games.

"I'd have to say my favorite part of the whole thing was when Arkansas was coming out of the tunnel. I got to see how loud it really gets and how the fan base is."

Haynesville is 1-0 to start the season after beating Springhill (La.) North Webster, 41-19, in its season opener.
