Hogs offer in-state sophomore

Arkansas extended its second instate offer for the Class of 2016 on Monday when Jonesboro running back Denzel Mitchell spoke to head coach Bret Bielema.
Mitchell, 6-0, 200, 4.41, was one of the most impressive recruits at Arkansas' summer camp and has stayed in close contact with lead recruiter Barry Lunney Jr. ever since. He also holds offers from Arkansas State and Ole Miss.

"It was a good feeling," Mitchell said. "I was talking to Coach Lunney on the phone, then he handed the phone to Coach Bielema and that's when he offered me. He said he's been watching my film and wants me to play at Arkansas.
"I like Arkansas a lot. I've always liked them. They're right up there with Ole Miss right now, but I've still got a lot of time left."
Mitchell has only lived in Arkansas for a couple of years after his family moved to the Natural State from Alabama, but the sophomore has certainly made quite a name for himself thus far.
Mitchell has already rushed for almost 1,300 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns this season, and he has the look of a prospect who will have plenty of options to choose from after his senior season at Jonesboro High.
The talented running back plans on taking his time with the recruiting process until then.
"My family is just telling me to keep God first," Mitchell said. "They tell me I'm still only a sophomore and I've got plenty of time to worry about the other stuff. Right now I should just be focused on school and helping my team win a championship."
The sophomore knows what he'll be looking for in a school when the time comes.
"What I'm going to be looking for is what the school is like outside of athletics," he said. "I'm going to be looking for a place that has what I want to major in and make sure I get a degree."
Mitchell joins Star City (Ark.) defensive tackle [db]Austin Capps[/db] as the second in-state prospect to receive an offer from the Hogs for the Class of 2016.
