FAYETTEVILLE — The No. 1 Arkansas Razorbacks (27-3, 11-1 SEC) are riding high after a three game sweep over the Ole Miss Rebels last weekend to extend their home winning streak to 21 games, but must now turn their focus ahead of a two-game midweek matchup against San Jose State at Baum-Walker Stadium that starts on Tuesday.

Coming in with a 12-19 (7-8 Mountain West) overall record, the Spartans have struggled after finishing as a regional team a year ago. Led by seventh-year head coach Brad Sanfilippo, San Jose state has won four games in a row with a victory over Santa Clara and sweep of San Diego State.

"We’ve had some teams from out west come out here," head coach Dave Van Horn said on Saturday. "A lot of times, those leagues have byes or they’re on spring break a little later or they just want to travel and play in our type of environment for their teams.

“San Jose State was in a regional last year. I think the coach felt like it would be good for their players to go see something like this. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. We’ll get them in, but we might have to fight the weather a little bit."

Starting for the Razorbacks will be sophomore right-hander Ben Bybee, who has thrown four innings with seven strikeouts and only one walk in two games since his debut on March 26.

Taking the mound for the Spartans will be redshirt senior right-hander Keaton Chase. A former Oregon transfer, Chase has compiled a 8.69 ERA in 19.2 IP with seven strikeouts, 12 walks and 19 earned runs this season.

Arkansas maintains a 2-0 overall series record against San Jose State. The two programs last met on the diamond in 1995, when the Razorbacks — led by legendary head coach Norm DeBriyn — defeated the Spartans twice in San Jose, California.
