Talented Thompson up to nine offers

England (Ark.) defensive end Brandon Thompson is up to nine offers and could see more come his way when he begins a camp tour this summer.

"I actually just got off the phone with Kansas and they offered me a scholarship to play defensive end," Thompson said on Wednesday. "I heard from LSU and Vanderbilt again, and they still want me to come to their camp. I'm supposed to get on the phone with LSU again.

"I have a few camps I plan on attending this summer. I'm going to Arkansas, LSU, Florida and Baylor. I'd like to get up to Washington State, as well, but you know it's a long way."

In addition to his new offer from the Jayhawks, Thompson, 6-6, 200, also has options with Washington State, Cincinnati, Arkansas State, Memphis and others.

He is also receiving a look from the in-state Razorbacks and made an unofficial visit in Fayetteville during the Hogs' spring camp a few weeks ago.

"It was great," said Thompson, who also goes by the name B.J. "That was my first time actually being on campus at Arkansas, so I had a good time with my grandma and my dad.

"We checked out all the facilities and everything they have to offer and everything they have coming up. It was mind-blowing. It was a great experience."

Thompson is one of the state's best on either side of the ball, and he has no preference as to which one he might play at the next level.

"Not really, I don't," Thompson said. "I really like defensive end because my athletic ability helps me and makes me a good defensive end, but I really just want to play. Some schools talked to me about playing a little offense as well, but I really just want to play."

Thompson is the younger brother of former Lonoke (Ark.) standout Blake Mack, who plays for Arkansas State.
