Hogs not good on my b-day weekend

Arkansas' Red-White Scrimmage will tip off at 7 p.m. in Bud Walton Arena Friday. Admission is free with a canned food product.
The White squad appears to have a distinct advantage with the likes of senior guards Jaylen Barford and Daryl Macon teaming up with freshman stud Daniel Gafford and 2016/17 starter Dustin Thomas. That very well could be Arkansas' four best players. The Red team's best players are Anton Beard, Trey Thompson and Arlando Cook (full roster below).
"I think we've got a pretty balanced, split up right now," Arkansas coach Mike Anderson said. "These guys are very, very competitive. I think our practices have been very, very interesting."
Cook remains suspended for games by head coach Mike Anderson for an off-court arrest that included a charge of first-degree assault. However, he has been reinstated for all basketball activities except games as the legal process continues. It is not his first off-court incident.
"His suspension has been lifted as far as team activities and practice," Anderson said. "Still is suspended from playing games. He started practice yesterday."
Freshman guard Khalil Garland still has not been medically cleared to practice in the 'competition' part of things. His condition has not been released but it is not an injury.
Arkansas was picked to finish sixth out of the 14 teams earlier this week at SEC Basketball Media Days.
"I wasn't my wife's first choice. I was probably her fifth choice, so it turned out pretty good," Anderson said. "I know what we have out there on that floor and out there on that locker room. A team that last year was picked way below it and finished as one of the hotter teams going down the stretch.
Three weeks from tomorrow, Friday No. 10, the season will official open up against Samford.
"This team right hear, and you can hear it in my voice, I'm super excited," Anderson said.
Regarding former player Bobby Portis being involved in a practice altercation that involved shoving, jawing and then a Portis haymaker that dropped teammate Nikola Mirotic and resulted in facial and head injuries that caused him to be out for the season, Anderson had this to say...
"I know Bobby's character and the type of person he is, something had to provoke him," Anderson said. "It's unfortunate on both sides, Bobby's and the young man who got hit."
