FAYETTEVILLE — The Arkansas Razorbacks (19-12, 8-10 SEC) let a double-digit lead dwindle in the second half, but they got a 93-92 win over the No. 25 Mississippi State Bulldogs (20-11, 8-10 SEC) in the final game of the regular season at Bud Walton Arena on Saturday.
Arkansas led by as many as 16 points in the second half, but a barrage of threes from the Bulldogs erased it and Mississippi State took a two-point lead with 1:46 minutes left in the game.
D.J. Wagner, who scored a season-high 24 points, put the team on his back, hit a pair of free throws and drilled a three out of a baseline out-of-bounds play with 44 seconds left to give the Razorbacks a 92-89 lead, but Mississippi State guard Josh Hubbard responded with a three of his own to tie things up.
On the Hogs' final possession of the game, Johnell Davis found Jonas Aidoo, who drew a foul with 11 seconds. He sank one of two free throws, which ended up being the game-winner.
Mississippi State had two chances to score at the end of the game, but the first shot was blocked by Billy Richmond III, and the last one bounced off the rim to clinch the game for the Hogs.
The Razorbacks have now won two in a row and will head to the SEC Tournament to play South Carolina next Wednesday.
