LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - After a rusty start by the offense in the season opener, the Razorbacks put together a relatively clean game and nearly shut out FCS opponent Florida A&M Thursday evening in War Memorial Stadium, 49-7.
After senior quarterback Austin Allen got going, it was about getting a good look at the newer weapons like freshman running back Chase Hayden who had 14 carries for 120 yards and a touchdown.
“Excited to see the players that you’ve seen in the past, see the growth that they’ve made and also see the new guys step into the roles,” Bielema said. “Little bit of everything. Think we hit some speed bumps in that first half which was good to overcome, get those out of our way.”
“I didn’t know really what to expect. I just came into the game nervous,” Hayden said. “I was pretty nervous my first couple of carries.”
Allen finished 14 of 19 passing (73.7 percent) for 135 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He only had one chunk play on a 26-yarder to true freshman Jarrod
