The Arkansas baseball team added another talented transfer on Thursday in Richmond transfer Jared Sprague-Lott.
Sprague-Lott slashed .314/.440/.582 with an OPS of 1.022 with the Spiders in 2023. The infielder totaled 61 hits, 13 doubles, 13 home runs, 43 RBIs and three stolen bases. The 6-foot-1 second baseman walked 44 times to just 31 strikeouts.
Defensively, Sprague-Lott split 53 starts between third, short and second base in 2023. He finished with 15 errors and a .920 fielding percentage.
For his efforts, the leadoff-hitter was named to the Atlantic 10 Second Team.
In 2022, Sprague-Lott played the shortstop position and slashed .279/.405/.423 with an OPS of .829. He recorded 60 hits, 10 doubles, three triples, five home runs and 39 RBIs. During his freshman season in 2021, he slashed .413/.490/.613 with an OPS of 1.103. He added 33 hits, three doubles, two triples, three home runs and 31 RBIs that season.
The right-handed batter adds more depth and experience to an infield that lost third baseman Caleb Cali to the MLB Draft. With Peyton Stovall's health at second base in question following a season-ending torn labrum in 2023, adding a player like Sprague-Lott will only benefit the Diamond Hogs.
With the Razorbacks, Sprague-Lott will have at least one year of eligibility left.
