5,140 fans watched the Razorbacks dismantle their former Southwest Conference foe as Arkansas took down Texas 13-4 in the first of two games in Baum on Tuesday.

A seven-run third inning helped Arkansas rack up 13 hits and 13 runs including Casey Martin's fifth homer of the year. Kacey Murphy pitched six innings, striking out three and only allowing 2 runs on his way to the victory.

Texas hit three home runs on the night, but two of them were solo shots, and the Longhorns failed to score off of anything else the rest of the game. Beau Ridgeway made his first start of the season for the Longhorns but was pulled after giving up 3 runs in the third.

Here's how Arkansas took it to Texas on Tuesday night:

THE WINNING INNINGS

Arkansas struck first in the third inning after Carson Shaddy singled to left field and two Texas throwing errors scored Jordan McFarland to make it 1-0. From that point, the Razorbacks blew the game open, plating six more runs on four hits in the third behind an RBI single by Eric Cole, an RBI double by Luke Bonfield, an RBI sacrifice fly by Dominic Fletcher and a 3-RBI double with the bases loaded by McFarland in his second at bat of the inning.

Texas got two runs back with a pair of solo homers by Zach Zubia and DJ Petrinsky in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively.

McFarland tacked on his fourth RBI of the night with a single to right, scoring Grant Koch and pushing the Razorback lead to 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth. Casey Martin then hit a towering 3-run shot off the left field pole to make it 11-2 Arkansas. The ball appeared to be heading toward foul territory, but the wind brought it back into the foul pole for his fifth home run of the season.

Petrinsky, Texas' junior catcher, hit his second home run of the night in the seventh, this time it was a 2-run bomb to right center that made it 11-4 Hogs.

After a single by Shaddy and a HBP from Easton Murrell, Eric Cole brought both guys in with a 2-run RBI double to right, pushing the lead to 13-4 which would hold the rest of the game.

KEY QUOTES

Dave Van Horn on tonight's performance:

"I thought Kacey Murphy gave us what we wanted...got us off to a good start...Overall, I thought we played solid baseball. We didn't make any mistakes out in the field...It was a good win for us, and we'll go at it again tomorrow."

Van Horn on how Kacey Murphy has handled his role:

"His attitude's been good. We told him at the beginning of the year that he'd pitch some on Tuesdays, maybe some on the weekend...he said 'Hey, whatever. I just want to win.'"

Van Horn on Casey Martin's three-run homer off the left field pole:

"It was hit so high and the wind was out of the northwest. As you know, I'm part weatherman...It clipped the foul pole. It was pretty amazing. I haven't seen one like that. It clipped it on the way down...Pretty amazing, obviously that change the game a bit right there."

Van Horn on Jordan McFarland's late success:

"Well, I think he's really confident. He's a guy that we've been just waiting for him. When are you going to take your batting practice to the game? That's how you get things rolling."

Jordan McFarland on his late success:

"Yeah, I just try to take it one step at a time...The other day I said was looking for the perfect pitch. Today I was just looking for a pitch I could drive into the outfild."

Eric Cole on playing Texas, his home state team:

"They didn't really talk much to me. It's kind of cool to have Texas come in here. I like to think they're kind of jealous of what we have. Really wasn't that different though."
