In a not so surprising move, Arkansas junior running back Chase Hayden has announced his intention to enter the transfer portal and leave Fayetteville as a grad transfer.

Hayden played just four games in his junior season, preserving his year of eligibility, and he'll have two years left to play two seasons at his new program. The Tennessee native is capitalizing on the NCAA's new redshirt rule that allows any player to redshirt a season after snaps in four games or fewer–not just freshmen.

The 5-foot-10, 205-pound back has been a staple in the room since his freshman year and he led the group in rushing yards until fracturing his leg against Auburn in 2017. Hayden had 326 yards and four touchdowns in 2017, 251 yards for one touchdown in 2018 and just 39 yards on 12 attempts in 2019.

Hayden actually entered the transfer portal after the 2018 season at Arkansas but changed his mind and withdrew his name.

Hayden leaves behind a room of four other running backs: Rakeem Boyd, Trelon Smith, A'montae Spivey, Dominique Johnson. TJ Hammonds is also due to be back on scholarship for the 2020 season. Not to be forgotten, Georgia native Ebony Jackson is still committed to join the team for 2020 but has yet to sign his NLI.

With 1,110-yard rusher Boyd returning for his final year instead of entering the NFL draft, the running backs room looks like it will be a strength for the team in 2020.
