The wide receiver corps took a big hit on Saturday, and while there are plenty of intriguing names, only one player has really taken advantage of his reps in games.
Starting senior wide receiver Jared Cornelius is out for the rest of the season, it was confirmed on Monday. Cornelius suffered an Achilles tendon injury on the first play of the second half against Texas A&M, and he had surgery on the tendon Monday.
“That will hurt because he’s very experience, he’s a good leader, and he was playing well Saturday when he got hurt,” offensive coordinator Dan Enos said on Monday. “He made some plays for us and you were starting to see the old Jared Cornelius starting to emerge.”
So where does Arkansas go from here? -The unlikely player who has emerged as the ‘go-to’ receiver thus far has been Jonathan Nance. Nance joined the team in January out of junior college and has 9 catches for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns with a long of 49 yards. All those numbers lead the team.
