Scoring Recap: Vanderbilt 85, Arkansas 82

The Arkansas Razorbacks (14-13, 5-9 SEC) are looking to extend their winning streak to three as they prepare to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores (7-20, 2-12 SEC) on Tuesday inside Bud Walton Arena.

Led by fifth-year head coach Jerry Stackhouse, the Commodores has lost three straight games to Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. Arkansas is 29-14 all-time against Vanderbilt, which includes a 7-3 mark in the two programs' last 10 games.

"Vanderbilt, two guards — (Ezra) Manjon’s is really good, Lawrence is a guy that can really score the ball and has got good length," head coach Eric Musselman on Saturday. "Transfer from Notre Dame has done a good job for them. Like I said, I’ll really dive into their… I watched the Florida game just now before I came in here and before I did radio. But I’ve got a lot of time with no distractions."

Leading the Commodores is senior guard Ezra Manjon. The 6-foot, 170-pound California native is averaging 13.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 43.6% from the field. Stopping Manjon is pivotal for the Hogs to continue their winning streak.

"It feels good," guard Davonte Davis said on Saturday. "It always feels good to be on a winning streak. Like I said, me being able to be with this team and being able to contribute to help sweep two teams in a row is amazing."

KenPom ranks Vanderbilt 202nd overall nationally and the Commodores are also 347th in effective field goal percentage (45.0) through 27 games.

First Half:

Arkansas has won the tip and we are underway!

Tramon Mark gets the scoring started for the Hogs with a layup. Khalif Battle steals the ball away and then turns it over, but the Hogs force a missed three.

Isaiah West fouls the Hogs on a shot attempt, and Battle misses both free throws. Tyrin Lawrence turns it over and Battle scores in the paint. Battle then steals it and scores again on a fast break.

The Commodores finally score on a three by Lawrence, and Vanderbilt doubles up with a jumper by Ven-Allen Lubin. The Hogs respond with a layup by Mark in the paint.

Both teams continue to trade buckets in the early-goings, and Vanderbilt has made it a one-possession game after being down 7-0.

Battle makes both free throws out of the timeout. The Hogs force another missed three and El Ellis takes it back for the fastbreak bucket. The Commodores miss another bucket and Evan Taylor fouls Battle.

Technical fouls are assessed to Devo Davis, Ven-Allen Lubin and Khalif Battle after the play. As a result, Ezra Manjon is at the line and makes one free throw. Battle then shoots and makes two free throws.

Jeremiah Davenport drains a three after a few perimeter passes by the Hogs. He then commits a shooting foul. Lawrence makes one free throw.

Out of the timeout, the Hogs turn it over and Layden Blocker is called for a goal-tend on the fastbreak block. After misses both ways, Vanderbilt makes a second-chance three point pointer by Lewis.

Battle draws a foul from Carter Lang and makes one free throw. Arkansas forces another turnover and Trevon Brazile nearly converts the and-one fastbreak layup, but it comes up just short. He makes one free throw.

Arkansas continues to turn it over, and Manjon converts the fast-break layup. Brazile fouls on another Vanderbilt fastbreak attempt which leads to a timeout.

Out of the timeout, Paul Lewis makes one free throw. Both teams miss shots and Lubin hits a second-chance layup. The Hogs finally stop the bleeing after three Battle free throws following a shooting foul by Roberts.

Hand the Commodores another second-chance bucket to make it a one possession game. El Ellis takes the ball in for a layup but Manjon answers with a midrange jumper.

The game is tied after a Makhi Mitchell miss and Manjon fastbreak bucket. We have a timeout after a Davenport shooting foul.

Out of the break, Roberts makes two free throws to give Vandy the lead. Vandy leads by four after a layup by Lubin.

Arkansas has gone 12 minutes with just one made field goal. Manjon makes a turnaround jumper in the paint to extend Vandy's lead. Lubin fouls Mark, who makes both free throws. Battle steals the ball again and Mark draws another foul. He makes both free throws.

The half closes with a Manjon bucket on an easy midrange.

HALF: Vanderbilt 35, Arkansas 31

Second Half:

The Commodores open up the second half with a reverse second-chance layup by Lubin. After misses by both teams, Manjon hits a driving layup to continue the Vandy's dominance.

Following a Chandler Lawson turnover, Lawrence hits an impressive reverse layup while being fouled. He misses the free throw. The Hogs finally break through with an El Ellis three.

Khalif Battle travels and Lubin hits a driving layup. Chandler Lawson answers with a dunk off an assist from Davenport. Lubin follows a missed three with a putback layup. Tramon Mark nails a corner three in response.

Make it two buckets in a row for the Hogs after a Battle layup, but a foul by Mark sends us to a timeout.

Evan Taylor hits a turnaround jumper over Jalen Graham out of the break. El Ellis and Lawrence trade layups, but Lawrence draws the foul on his attempt.

Out of the timeout, Lawrence makes the free throw. Mark draws a shooting foul on a hard attempt at the rim and makes two free throws. Vandy is awarded a one-and-one after a Mark foul. Lawrence makes both free throws.

Out of the break, Manjon misses the free throw. Mahki Mitchell grabs a clutch offensive rebound and Battle makes a three point jumper as a result.

On the other end, Lubin hits a driving layup over Mitchell. Paul Lewis answers with a contested three off an assist from Manjon. Both teams trade multiple misses and turnovers before Vandy takes advantage of a steal with a fastbreak layup.

El Ellis turns the ball over out of the break and Mark fouls Rivera-Torres, who makes both free throws. Khalif Battle gets a tough shot to go and Manjon answers with a three.

Trevon Brazile throws up a wild shot, misses, and then fouls the Vandy rebounder. Rivera-Torres makes one free throw. El Ellis misses a corner three, Manjon grabs a long rebound and gets fouled in transition by Mark. Manjon makes both free throws.

Battle draws a foul from Lawrence and makes both freebies. Battle is called for a foul and Lawrence makes both free throws.

El Ellis makes two free throws after getting fouled, but Rivera-Torres answers with a free throw of his own. Battle makes a jumper after taking is to the right side of the hoop. He gets fouled in the process and makes the free throw.

Lawrence gets in the paint and gets the layup to go over Ellis. Ellis answers right back with a reverse layup. Then Lewis nails a floater in the paint. Brazile takes a paint pass from Ellis and converts at the rim. Arkansas gets it back within single digits after an Ellis three.

Lawrence draws a shooting foul which leads to a timeout.

Lawrence makes both free throws out of the break. Battle hits a signature step-back three in response. Brazile gets fouled on a rebound attempt and makes makes one free throw.

Brazile commits a shooting foul of his own and Lawrence makes both free throws. Brazile clutches up and drains a three off an assist from Davenport. Ellis hits the second three in a row and the Hogs are only down by three.

For the first time this season, Vandy hits the 80-point mark with a layup by Manjon. After misses both ways, Battle draws a foul while driving to the hoop. He makes both free throws.

In an effort to steal the ball away, Brazile fouls Lawrence. He makes one free throw. After the second miss, Lubin grabs the offensive rebound and hits the putback and-one. Count the free throw.

Mark draws a foul and hits two free throws. Ellis steals the ball away on the inbounds. Battle somehow hits a three pointer and Davenport fouls Manjon with little time left. Manjon makes both free throws.
