Coach's Take: Wide Receiver Ze'Vian Capers

The Arkansas 2020 class is off to a strong start with six elite commits. The first player to join #diamondgangxx was Georgia 3-star wide receiver Ze'Vian Capers. He chose Arkansas over 13 other offers including South Carolina, Clemson and Florida.

No one knows Arkansas's commits like their high school coaches so Rivals caught up with Denmark head football coach Terry Crowder to get his take on the 6-foot-4 pass catcher.

Crowder is going into his third season as the head coach at Denmark and he led the Danes to a 5-5 season in 2018. He has retooled for next season, adding one of the most heavily recruited 2021 quarterbacks in the nation, Aaron McLaughlin, to throw to Capers.

What Does Capers Bring to the Table?

"He's the best that I've ever had. He's a huge guy. He's a big matchup problem because most corners aren't that big. If he can find that mismatch he can definitely exploit them. He reminds me of a Dez Bryant or Terrell Owens."

How's His Football IQ?

"He can run routes all day. He studies the game. He loves football, he doesn't just like it. He studies his opponents and he picks up on things really, really quickly."

What Does He Need to Work on to be Ready for Arkansas?

"Playing in the SEC, at Arkansas, he just needs to get bigger and stronger. And he's already fine with that but he'll definitely continue to work on that more. He'll be in the weight room a lot."

How are His Grades?

"His grades are really good. He wants to enroll early and he's set up to do that right now."

How Pivotal will Capers be to the Team Next Season?

"He'll probably be the top or one of the top receivers in Georgia. We added Aaron McLaughlin and they're both very talented. Our offense is going to be good. They've connected very well. We leave them on the field to do their own work, they do a 30-play script and they're responsible. They're adjusting to each other well."

What Type of Leader is Ze'Vian?

"He is just always in a great mood. He goes out there with a good mood and as one of the better players it rubs off on everyone else. His work ethic is very good and that pushes everyone else too."

How Does He React to Adversity or Things Not Going His Way?

"He's a positive guy so the worst you can do is talk trash because that just makes him even more competitive. He keeps his emotions in check, he gets that from his mom and dad, they're such great people."

How's His Speed?

"He's a 4.5 kid and on the field he's faster than that. The stronger he gets the faster he'll get."

How Does He Take Criticism?

"That's one of the best things about him. It doesn't bother him a bit. He listens and he doesn't make the same mistake twice. He's a fun kid to coach."
