Scoring Recap: Arkansas 7, Ole Miss 4 (Game 3)

FAYETTEVILLE — The No. 1 Arkansas Razorbacks (26-3, 10-1 SEC) made it 20-straight home wins with an 8-3 series-clinching victory over the Ole Miss Rebels (18-14, 3-8 SEC) Friday, and the Diamond Hogs will go for the series sweep Saturday afternoon at Baum-Walker Stadium.

Arkansas hasn't swept Ole Miss in a three-game series since 2002, and it would be the first in Fayetteville since 1997 under former head coach Norm DeBriyn. With a win, Arkansas will also have its best 12-game start in league play since joining the SEC in 1992.

"This team reminds me of a couple of our teams in the past that were pretty consistent and just good," Van Horn said on Friday. "I think about the ’21 team, the ’18 team. Just hard to beat. Pretty consistent. Throw the ball over the plate. Field it mostly. We come to the park, we’re confident.

"I just want our guys to get… You just can’t… You’re not going to win them all. You’re going to get beat. But just play. Show up and play hard. And that’s what they’ve done. That’s what we talked to them about and we play with a little bit of energy."

Starting for the Razorbacks will be right-handed pitcher Brady Tygart, who currently sports a 2.51 ERA through 32.1 IP for the Hogs. Last weekend, the Mississippi native allowed four earned runs and five hits in four innings against LSU. He'll look to bounce back against an Ole Miss team that didn't recruit him hard out of Lewisburg High School.

“I don’t think it matters to Brady who the other team is," Van Horn said on Wednesday. "He’s just motivated to do well. I don’t think the motivation is an issue at all. It is just about getting a couple of things straighten up and, like I said, maybe a little bit of rest. Hopefully he will have a really good outing for us.”

“We gave him, as you said, rest and then gave him an extra day’s rest and then didn’t throw a lot of pitches last weekend because it wasn’t his best outing. His stuff was good. Then going again in game three (this weekend) will give him a little bit more rest."
