Strong instate crop for 2019

Arkansas has more to offer than top notch facilities and the lure of coaching in the Southeastern Conference because the instate talent in the Class of 2019 looks like the best bunch in over a decade.

It was Arkansas’ 2008 recruiting class that, in large, launched the Razorbacks and former head coach Bobby Petrino into a Top-10 program in 2010 and 2011.

That bunch included quarterback Tyler Wilson, running back Dennis Johnson, tight end Chris Gragg and wide receivers Joe Adams, Jarius Wright and Greg Childs. All but Johnson were drafted into the NFL.

Whoever the new head coach is, his first full recruiting cycle will include some talented instate prospects to target.

Warren’s Treylon Burks, 6-3, 190, is rated the No. 22 overall prospect in the nation by Rivals.com, and if he stays in that range he will eventually be listed as a 5-star prospect. The new coach will have to fend off offers from Auburn, South Carolina and others for Burks’ services.
