Peters, 6-1, 221, 4.61, took an official visit to Arkansas this past weekend. He had been committed to the Volunteers since July and visited there two weeks ago. Rivals.com rates him the No. 4 overall prospect in Louisiana, the No. 6 inside linebacker recruit in the nation and the No. 126 overall prospect in the country.
"He came to me last night," Scobel said. "He called me almost at 11 o'clock last night and just told me 'Coach, I think I want to go to Arkansas. I've made my decision, and I think I want to go to Arkansas.'
"And we really didn't talk much. I just told him 'look man, sleep on it, talk to your mom about it and then we'll talk in the morning. He came back, and we talked today during school.
"Probably the biggest thing, and it wasn't an easy decision, is he wanted to play for a team that has a chance to win championships, and Arkansas right now is in front of Tennessee when it comes to that right now. That's probably the biggest thing."
Peters is expected to sign at approximately 8:30 a.m. (CST) Wednesday morning. He chose the Hogs over Tennessee and offers from Arizona, Kansas State, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Pitt, Texas A&M, TCU and others.
