When Arkansas is allowed to hire a 10th assistant, or if there are changes made to the staff (or both), the Razorbacks would do well to bring in a coach with deep-rooted Texas connections for the sake of recruiting.
Essentially everyone at the table of the Division I Council is in favor of improving the ratio of coaches to student athletes in football by adding a 10th assistant coach. This is going to happen this offseason, and for the Razorbacks this guy needs to be a Texan.
Odds are, there are going to be changes to Arkansas' coaching staff in one way or another, as well, in addition to a 10th assistant. There have been changes every single year since Bret Bielema started at Arkansas, since Bobby Petrino's time and beyond that.
Arkansas doesn't have any strong Texas connections on the staff right now other than Vernon Hargreaves having spent two years with the Houston Cougars. And while he does have the Dallas area as a territory (along with other coaches in Texas), Hargreaves was really brought to Arkansas for his ties to Florida - where he spent 12 years as an assistant coach.
