Razorback Career
After sitting out the 2017 season because of NCAA transfer rules, Tyson Morris quickly established himself as a possible contributor for the Razorbacks. He actually scored the first touchdown in the first spring scrimmage of the Chad Morris era, catching a short pass and taking it the distance.
Despite being a walk-on, Morris appeared in all but one game in 2018 and played 181 total snaps, including 82 on offense. He caught four passes for 30 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown against Vanderbilt.
Before last season, Arkansas placed Morris on scholarship and he ended up being a significant contributor on offense, playing 351 total snaps. The result was 13 receptions for 155 yards, with his lone score coming on a 30-yard pass against San Jose State.
2020 Expectations
Going into his final season of college football as a fifth-year senior, Morris is once again expected to be a contributor at wide receiver. The Razorbacks return all three starters at the position - Treylon Burks, Trey Knox and Mike Woods - but he is in the next group of receivers.
The thought is that with offensive coordinator Kendal Briles running the offense and quarterback Feleipe Franks under center, Arkansas will have more success throwing the ball this year and Morris will have increased opportunities even if he’s not one of the starters.
Recruiting Flashback
Despite a standout high school career in which he helped Fayetteville High win a state championship and earned all-state honors as wide receiver, Morris was not highly recruited. He actually ended up signing with Central Oklahoma, a Division II school.
However, Morris - the son of former Arkansas basketball player Isaiah Morris - ended up staying there just one year. He redshirted in 2016 and then transferred back home to become a walk-on for the Razorbacks.
