Confirmed by HawgBeat.com and reported by multiple outlets, Arkansas head basketball coach Eric Musselman is set to interview for the open head coaching position at the University of Southern California. Scott Schrader of WeAreSC first reported the news.
Musselman has been linked to several jobs throughout this coaching cycle, but could find a home in Los Angeles. The news of the interview comes just one day after Athletics Director Hunter Yurachek had part of an interview on the 1 Star Recruits Podcast released regarding where Musselman stands with Arkansas.
"Now, this may change tomorrow - you'll have to ask Coach Musselman that - but we very much want him to be an Arkansas Razorback," Yurachek said. "We feel like where his contract currently sits, he's compensated in the top 12-to-15 coaches in the country. He's earned that compensation and done a great job.
"That video was nothing more than an athletic director trying to have a little bit of fun with some fanbases and naysayers that say, 'Hey, Coach Musselman is leaving.' He may be leaving, but right now he's still here, he's still our basketball coach, and he's still driving the bus."
The video Yurachek is referring to was a clip he posted from an older collaboration with Musselman that was edited with a new clip that had Yurachek saying "You're still here?"
So far all that is known is that Musselman is reported to interview for the position, and it has been reported previously that he was a top candidate for the job. It is unknown if he will be offered or accept the position, but that could be on the horizon.
