OFFICIAL: Hunter Yurachek hired as Arkansas AD

COACHING SEARCH HOG BOARD

As first reported by FootballScoop.com and Bret McMurphy, and as HawgSports.com confirmed, Houston Cougars Vince President for Athletics Hunter Yurachek is the new athletic director at the University of Arkansas.

The UA officially announced the hiring at around 5 p.m. on Monday.

“I am thrilled to welcome Hunter to the Razorback family,” said school chancellor Joseph Steinmetz. “He possesses the experience, the management skills and the passion to have an immediate impact on our university. I know that as Razorbacks around our state and country get to know him, they will know that we are in good hands. We welcome Hunter, Jennifer and their children to Arkansas.”

“The opportunity to serve the Razorback program is both humbling and exciting,” said Yurachek. “There is so much already in place, and we will quickly build on that foundation to win championships. We will do so with integrity and while continuing to be a great source of pride for the entire state of Arkansas. I want to thank Chancellor Steinmetz and those involved with the search process. Jennifer, myself and our family cannot wait to join the Arkansas Razorback family.”

Yurachek, originally from Richmond (Va.), has been the athletic director at Houston since April of 2015 after he held the Associate Vice Preisent and Chief Operating Officer for Athletics staring in 2014.

He was previously the athletic director at Coastal Carolina, where he was named FCS Athletic Director of the Year in 2014. He has also worked at Akron, Virginia, Western Carolina, Vanderbilt and wake Forest in administration leadership positions.

Yurachek has a bacnelor’s degree in business management from Guilford College (1990), where he played basketball. He earned his master’s in sports administration from Richmond in 1994.
