Texas OL Garrett Hayes Recaps Successful Arkansas Official Visit

Making the trip from Athens, Texas to Fayetteville Arkansas, Garrett Hayes is one of the most highly sought-after offensive line prospects in the state still uncommitted. Despite his 5.5 3-star rating, which is due to go up next ratings cycle this month, he's racked up 21 Division-I offers, including three other SEC offers.

Hayes has already been to visit Arkansas but learned a lot in the 48-hour stay.

"I got to see the campus a lot more in detail," Hayes said. "I got to be with the players and stuff. Hang out with the players and it was really good."

"Drew Vest hosted me. He had a hurt arm, but was still a good host. He told me a little more about the coaches, went deeper in general. Like the way they coach and like how they are on a more personal level."

On top of hearing about how the coaches are from true freshman Drew Vest, Hayes also got to spend more time with them one-on-one.

"My relationship with Coach Fry is really good," Hayes said. "He's a good guy. I really like him."

Arkansas already has one 2020 offensive line commit, Ty'Kieast Crawford, but they're looking to add two more really elite prospects to this smaller offensive line class.

"Of course they're trying to get me to commit, that's what every college does," Hayes said. "I haven't made a decision yet. I still have a lot more official visits to go on."

Though Hayes got in early for his Arkansas official, he said he's likely to save more for the fall and make a decision then. The Aggies in College Station would also love to have his talents on their offensive line. He'll be a December graduate and be able to enroll early.

"What I'm lookin for really is just the coaches and where I feel comfortable. Really just the place I like the most that has the best academics and best program. I'm looking at studying a stage of engineering maybe or physical therapy possibly."
