The recruiting game is nothing new for rising IMG Academy senior Markevious Brown. Ranked as the No. 45 player in the Sunshine State with 4-star status, Brown has been receiving recruiting attention since he was a freshman in high school.

"Nebraska was the first to offer and going into my sophomore season I only had three offers," Brown said. "Towards the end of my sophomore season, I was labeled one of the top cornerbacks in the nation, so that's when my recruitment kind of blew up for me. Ever since then it's been off to the races."

With 19 Division-I offers to choose from, the cornerback is strengthening his relationships and he's especially enjoying the bond he's building with first-year Arkansas defensive backs coach Sam Carter, despite not having visited yet. Carter extended an offer to Brown on April 30.

"Since the first day I talked to Coach Carter, we've had a strong relationship, probably the strongest relationship I have with any coach, well, definitely the strongest," Brown said. "We've actually talked every day since he started recruiting me, probably once or twice a day. It's grown a lot and he's showing me I'm wanted. The whole coaching staff really, they're pushing for me hard, making me feel wanted and needed.

"Coach Pittman is a more laid back coach. He knows what he wants and he knows where he wants to take his program. He knows what he wants out of his team."

It's not just Arkansas coaches recruiting Brown at this point, the Hogs' 2021 class, with 11 members so far, have been going to work and showing Brown a lot of love.

"I feel good about it but I'm not too big on the players trying to get me to play with them, I'm more about where I fit and where I can play," Brown said.

The South Florida native has been offered by Florida, Florida State and Miami as well as Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi State and many more. Despite the in-state offers, it's still anybody's game and Brown could very well head out of state for college.
