The Razorback offense is trying to get in sync as they prepare to face Texas A&M late Saturday morning in AT&T Stadium for the annual Southwest Classic in the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Every other team in the SEC, all 13 of them, has a quarterback with a higher passer rating than Arkansas senior Austin Allen (120.3), and that includes true freshman Aggie counterpart Kellen Mond (144.3). Last year, Allen was third in the SEC with a 146.0 rating.

The Arkansas team captain is 23 of 42 passing (54.8 percent) for 273 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception this season. Last time out was arguably his worst showing as a Razorback as he completed just 9 of 23 passes (39.1 percent) for only 138 yards and a touchdown in the 28-14 home loss to TCU.

“I think we came out there a little tight where we didn’t want to make a mistake,” Allen said after Tuesday’s practice. “Just got to go out there and play some football, have energy. Play football. It’s fun. Something I think was missing a little bit.”

BAD BALANCE

No, Arkansas’ offense has not passed the ball well…nor have they run it with much effectiveness. The Aggie defense has struggled against the pass, giving up 323.7 yards per game through the air, but A&M has been stout against the run.
